The mission of the Okanagan Institute
is to contribute to
the quality of creative engagement in the Okanagan through publications and events.
One of our goals at Made in the Okanagan is to establish an academic base to empower creativity throughout all levels of education as object, subject, and process. We accomplish this task by working in schools with teachers to create lesson plans using creativity as a means of teaching math, language arts, science and social sciences, and by coordinating educational exhibits featuring how the local economy works in the Okanagan.
Creativity Across the Curriculum Project
The Creativity Across the Curriculum program offers hands-on workshops which bring teachers together with local artists. The goal of the program is to utilize art and craft and the region's heritage as a means of teaching math, language arts, science and social sciences and to give local artists another vehicle for sharing their craft knowledge and art form.
